Test Prep Is Our Specialty.

BESTPREP helps students prepare strategically for the SAT, ACT, and other standardized tests with targeted instruction designed around how each student learns. We also offer one-on-one academic tutoring for students who need additional support in specific subjects.

Should I sign up for 1-on-1 or a class?

It depends on your needs and budget. Classes are offered for every administration of the SAT and ACT. Six spots are offered until the classes are full. These are often the best option at the last minute.

1-on-1 is a much more customized approach, and, as a result, there is an optional orientation for this service. You can also book these appointments with Dane, Maryann, or Julia without a formal orientation.

Please contact us if you have concerns about scheduling before you sign up for 1-on-1.

Hasn’t AI made in-person test prep obsolete?

Free apps and AI tools are great at handing you endless practice questions and explaining the right answer, but they can't watch you work. They don't notice that you rush every geometry question, or that you always second-guess your first instinct on reading passages. At BESTPREP, our instructors do.

With no more than 6 students in our small groups, mistakes get caught and corrected in real time, not after the fact. And a set class time means someone's tracking your progress even when you'd rather not study. A generic tool can tell you the answer. Only a person watching you work can tell you why you got it wrong, and fix it before it costs you points on test day.

Where is BESTPREP?

Our Cornelius center is located at the corner of Bailey Road and Statesville Road in the Oakhurst building. We are upstairs in Suite 245. The building has two primary entrances at 9624 Bailey Road and 17830 Statesville Road. Look for the sign that says “Village Office Suites” and take the elevator to the second floor. After 5pm, you will need a code to enter the building.

Our Matthews center is located at 624 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Suite 120 is located at the front of the building. Building access is restricted at all hours, so please wait under the awning, and Dane will come get you.

Do you offer virtual tutoring?

In-Person When Possible. Virtual When It Makes Sense.

Whenever possible, we prefer to work with students in person. There’s something valuable about being in the room together, particularly for individualized instruction and test preparation.

That said, virtual tutoring makes quality instruction accessible when in-person sessions aren't practical. Dane offers virtual tutoring for students who live outside our area or simply need the flexibility of meeting online.

Do you offer other services?

We also offer additional educational services on a case by case basis. Please see our Other Services tab for more information on these.

What kind of guarantee do you offer?

We don’t offer a score guarantee, and that’s intentional. Great test prep is a partnership. Our job is to provide the best preparation possible: targeted instruction, proven strategies, content review, practice, and honest feedback.

But a test score depends on more than what happens in a tutoring session. How much a student practices between sessions, how they approach test day, and how they respond to the pressure of the exam can all affect the outcome.

What we can guarantee is that we’ll take the process seriously. We’ll identify where a student can improve, build a plan around those needs, track progress, and give them our best work every step of the way.

We don’t promise a particular score. We promise to help each student become a better, more prepared test taker.
